Lovely places like one of our country’s blue villages, Casamassima, in the province of Bari, a picturesque, people-friendly location in which legends are told, such as that of its distinctive color.
It is said, in fact, that the blue coloring of the village is due to the vow made in the 17th century by Michele Vaaz, lord of Casamassima, to Our Lady of Constantinople, to save and preserve the village from the plague. The celestial blue color, in fact, is that of the Madonna’s cloak depicted under the arch of Via Santa Chiesa. A legend that has allowed the blue village to flaunt this magical color and give charm to the place in every single corner.
