Roger Whittaker was one of the music icons of the 20th century: a celebrated British singer-songwriter born in Nairobi (Kenya belonged to the British Empire at the time), he became a star thanks to the TV program Top of the Pops. His songs are known worldwide, and his name has always been accompanied by a baritone voice and that special ability, honed over the years, to produce music through the technique of whistling. A great lover of France, Roger and his family have long lived in the picturesque village of Montaigu-de-Quercy. The house where the singer-songwriter spent the last years of his life is now for sale: let’s discover it together.

The house that belonged to Roger Whittaker

Roger Whittaker, who passed away in September 2024 at the age of 87, leaves behind his wife Natalie O’Brien and five children: together with his family, the singer-songwriter lived in the picturesque French village of Montaigu-de-Quercy, in a spectacular house spread over no less than five floors. Upon his death, his wife and children decided to put it up for sale. Today its commercial value is an impressive 550,000 pounds (or nearly 640,000 euros). The home is nothing short of spectacular, with more than 500 square meters of floor area and an enchanting terrace from which there is a breathtaking view.

Roger Whittaker's House

On the outside, the house has a beautiful decorative stone facade and beautiful arched windows, from which it is not hard to imagine that one can have a stunning view of the southern French countryside. It is the perfect mix of historic rural architecture, of which the house still retains its most authentic flavor, and luxury, considering also all the comforts that can be found inside. In short, ideal for those who want to live in complete relaxation, in a corner of paradise without, however, renouncing modern conveniences.

The splendid and luxurious interiors

L’home that belonged to Roger Whittaker opens onto a large entrance hall divided in two by a grand staircase covered with a luxurious red carpet. A wonderful fireplace and wood-burning stove stand out in the hall, lending warmth to the room. From here there is access to the large terrace overlooking the French hills, but also to a first bedroom complete with dressing room and private bathroom, ideal for visiting guests. On the other side of the house, however, there is a beautiful country-style kitchen perfectly furnished, with a nearby formal-looking dining area.

Also on the ground floor, a second bedroom with a large private bathroom. Going up to the upper floors (to which there is also access via a convenient elevator) you will encounter two more bedrooms, a private bathroom and one dedicated to guests. But that’s not the end of it yet: you can go down to a lower level, where you will find another splendid living area and a very rich library equipped with a fireplace, the walls of which are entirely lined with custom-made wooden shelving. Apparently this was Roger’s favorite room, where he used to entertain himself with his family or guests.

Next to the library, there is finally access to the Whittaker’s private music studio, where he composed his music. It seems incredible to be able to immerse oneself in this atmosphere, still steeped in his wonderful sounds. The whole house is full of character and furnished with uniquely designed furniture between style and luxury. One of the highlights is obviously the terrace which we have already mentioned, where you can dine on summer evenings while admiring the spectacular view of the southern French countryside. Truly sweet living.
